Thomas Abramson

May 20, 1960 — December 26, 2021

Thomas J. Abramson, 61, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died December 26, 2021at CHI in Grand Island, NE.

Thomas Joel Abramson, 61, of Gothenburg, Nebraska was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, December 26, 2021. Tom was born on May 20, 1960, in Holdrege, Nebraska to Evald and Mary Lou (Bocock) Abramson. Tom graduated from Holdrege High School in 1978 and went on to attend Central Community College in Hastings, Nebraska.
At a young age, Tom started working with his parents and brother at Abramson Appliance and TV, helping at the shop throughout high school and summers during college.  He then went on to work for Central Nebraska Public Power for over two decades. In 1991, Tom started his own independent insurance agency, Abramson & Associates. For many years, Tom worked two jobs as he built his insurance business from the ground up. Tom was passionate about serving the community of Gothenburg through his work and always valued his customers and employees.
Tom married his first love Paula Branson in the summer of 1985 in Holdrege, NE. They later moved to Gothenburg and had three beautiful children: Ashley Jo, Aaron Thomas, and Alexandra Paige. Tom’s greatest passion in life was being a father to his children. Even while holding the demands of running his own business, Tom always made his kids a priority and supported them at every activity, sporting event and through all of life’s endeavors. Summers were spent at the cabin, and he could always be found smiling while skiing or pulling someone behind the boat. Tom was a devoted husband to Paula while she battled breast cancer and was a rock for the family when she passed in 2012.
In 2018, Tom found love again and married Mary Lambrecht in Holdrege on January 11, 2020. Together they bonded over their shared faith, quiet nights at home and Johnson Lake sunrises. With his new marriage, his family grew even larger as he adopted Mary’s children and grandchildren as his own. In his last days, Tom’s greatest joy was being Grandpa Abe and spoiling his grandsons Brooks, Konner & Baron.
When he wasn’t working on various projects or keeping up with the kids, Tom could be found at his beloved duck blind on the river with his Labradors. Hunting was a passion that he shared with his son, and he was an active member of Ducks Unlimited. Tom was a man of strong faith and grew up in the United Methodist Church, where he was a long-time member and volunteer. Throughout life, his strong but quiet faith inspired all those around him. Anyone who knows Tom would describe him as a loyal, kind, and gentle man who was hardworking and compassionate. His smile and laugh will be missed greatly but we find peace knowing Tom is in the presence of the Lord experiencing the joys of Heaven.
