Ruth Rylander

L. Ruth Rylander, 77, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died September 13, 2020 in Omaha, NE.

She was born February 21, 1943 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of John Arlt and Ruth M (Portiner) Rylander.  Ruth attended Gothenburg High and earned her GED; she always enjoyed learning and felt that education was important.

As a child and young adult, Ruth attended the Church of the Nazarene.  In her later years, she faithfully attended American Lutheran Church every Wednesday night. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, sending greeting cards, and playing board games.  Ruth liked to garden and had lots of fun going shopping at garage sales and flea markets.  Ruth loved to spend time with her friends and family and could often be seen walking around town heading to visit her friends.

Survivors include two daughters Robin Howell and Tammy (Mike) Kottwitz; grandchildren Mandy (Ben) Miller, Shannon James, Magen (Craig) Boersen, Ashley Howell, Brandon Howell; great grandchildren Abby Miller, Alex Miller, Breanna Miller, Brooke Miller, Reese Wenzel, Camron Curtis, Madlan Howell, Ally Howell, Able Howell, Damian Howell; along with many friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by step-father and mother, Frank and Ruth M Rylander, her father, John Arlt, grandson, Anthony Howell, granddaughter, Mindy Howell.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Blase-Strasuer Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held at American Lutheran Church, 1512 Ave G, Gothenburg, Friday, September 18, 2020 at 10:00 am with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating.  Masks are required for those attending the funeral

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the funeral home to help offset the funeral expenses for the family.
