Ross Bartlett

Ross B. Bartlett, 72, of Gothenburg, NE, died November 7, 2021 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.

Ross was born August 26, 1949 in Gothenburg son of Roy and Catherine (Hull) Bartlett. He grew up on a farm between Gothenburg and Cozad attending school at District 30, K- 8th grade. He graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1967.

On December 27, 1969 Ross married Mary Gunderson at St. Patricks' Catholic Church in North Platte. To this union four children were born: Jason, Marcus, Brian and Katie; where they lived on the Bartlett family farm.

Ross was a third generation farmer/rancher, learning at an early age the love of the land and the importance of good stewardship.  He spent many hours weathering the ups and downs involved in Ag Production and the cattle industry.  Many hours were spent preparing the fields, putting up hay, caring for his cow/calf herd and his partnership with his son in M & R Bartlett Feeders.  Ross spent many hours sitting in the sale barn, he took great pride in putting together a good set of calves for the feed yard.  He was very proud that his son Marc, a fourth generation farmer, and his grandson Tucker, a fifth generation farmer will continue in on this Bartlett family farming legacy.

Ross was a member of the Heartland Pulling Series where he had two John Deere tractors he pulled in the Antique division.  In time he joined the Nebraska Truck and Tractor Pullers where he pulled his John Deere 4020 in the Limited Pro Stock division.

He was a long time member of the Gothenburg Ag Committee where he loved to come up with Ag related events during the annual Harvest Festival, 4 wheeler POLO and farm chore relay were a few of his favorites.  Ross also helped in both the State and National Corn Husking Contests held in Gothenburg in addition to organizing several Antique Tractor Pulls.

Because of his love of the land and his strong work ethic, Ross was very proud to be part of the Cattle Industry and Ag Production knowing that his contributions to these industries were helping feed the world.

Survivors include wife, Mary Bartlett of Cozad, NE; three sons, Jason Bartlett of Houston, TX, Marc (Taci) Bartlett of Gothenburg, Brian Bartlett of Dallas, TX and daughter, Katie (Brendon) Vlasin of Parker, CO, six grandchildren: Tucker and Chesney Bartlett of Gothenburg, Emma, Ava, Isabelle, and Olivia Vlasin of Parker, CO; his sister Robin Bartlett and brother, Joe Bartlett; brothers-and-sisters in law Tom and Kathy Gunderson and Fred and Patti Gunderson all of Arizona, and his special fur friend Boone, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ross was preceded in death by father, Roy Bartlett, mother, Catherine Bartlett and his in-laws Dr. H.L. and Marcella Gunderson and sister in law, Kristie Bartlett.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Gothenburg, NE; Thursday, November 11, 2021, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm, with family present 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Friday, November 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Father Tim Stoner officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
