Roger Wyatt

October 8, 1951 — July 26, 2018

Roger Lee Wyatt, 66 of Gothenburg passed into eternal life on July 26, 2018 at Gothenburg Health.

Roger was born on October 8, 1951 to Marilyn June and Harley Lee in Holdrege, Nebraska. The family later moved to North Platte where Roger graduated from High School in 1969. Roger married Mary Francis Pieper in 1973, this union was blessed with six children. Roger enjoyed years of working construction with his Uncle Jim Brown. Then paid his bills through his employment at Union Pacific Railroad, but made a life in carpentry. When Roger was not working or playing in the wood shop, he loved to spend time hunting, fishing, using his smoker and baking. These past times were most enjoyed when he could share them with his children and grandchildren. Grandpa and Dad were by far his favorite jobs. Roger’s faith community was important to him. He enjoyed participating in TEC retreats, Parish Council, Stewardship Committee and Knights of Columbus.  Roger never knew a stranger. He was happy, friendly, generous, creative, faith filled and never gave up.

Roger is survived by: his wife Mary of North Platte, children: Sara (Dean) Irvine of La Vista, Nathan (Charity) Wyatt of Gothenburg, Ann (James) Kavanaugh of Louisville, Emily Wyatt of Omaha, Rachael (Dan) Yeager of Arvada, CO; and Kate Wyatt (Matt Bruton) of Flagstaff, AZ;  grandchildren: Tucker, Addison, Max, and Ellie Wyatt, Shawn, Corrine, Joel, Hanna and Abigail Kavanaugh, Lupita and Isabelle Yeager;  sister: Pam (Don) Garrick of North Platte; half brother: Ed (Marilou) Wyatt of Lincoln, NE; his mother-in-law Mary Pieper, the Pieper family, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and his German short hair Chubs.

He was preceded in death by: his grandson Thomas Yeager, his parents Harley Wyatt, Marilyn and Richard Gloor; grandparents; father-in-law Bernie Pieper, several aunts and uncles.

Roger courageously faced cancer three times in his life and his wish is that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Thank you to the community of Gothenburg and staff at the hospital that provided outstanding care and support to Roger over the past 11 years.
