Norman Hollis

Norman L Hollis of Gothenburg, NE passed away on November 28, 2020 at Linden Court in North Platte, NE.

Norman was born October 7, 1937 to Grover and Gladys (Zink) Hollis in Lane County, Kansas.  He grew up and lived in the Healy, KS area until 2004 when he moved to Gothenburg. Norm served his country in the US Army from 1960-1962.  He married the love of his life Eileen Iva Bassett on January 22, 1967, of that union a daughter Carolyn was born.  After experiencing several miscarriages, Norman and Eileen decided to adopt a baby.  In 1975, they adopted a nine month old baby girl named Mary Lee (who was named after him, and they knew that the family was complete.  Norman loved his family and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.  Norman and Eileen were married for 36 years until she passed away from brain cancer.

Norman worked hard to provide for his family. He suffered a great loss when he lost the love of his life after 36 years off marriage to brain cancer in 2004. He drove a semi truck for 26 years for Dee Jay Snider and Sharp Brothers Seed Company of Healy, KS. He then went to work for a feedlot.  Norman enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Norman served in the military from 1960-1962.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary & Jeff Harbur of Gothenburg, NE, Carolyn (Jesse) Edwards of Commerce City, CO; grandchildren Jessica Schaben (Jake Sitorius & Natalie), Hanna Schaben, Ashton, Brett and Brock Harbur of Gothenburg, Kortney Forbes of Sterling, CO, Michelle Forbes, and Corey Forbes, two sisters, Lillian Smith, Sharon Sutton; brother, James Hollis

Norman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eileen Iva Hollis, father, Grover Hollis, mother, Gladys Hollis, nephew Harold, niece Tammi and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, December 3rd, 2020, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with family present 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

Masks are required and all CDC guidelines and current DHM'S will be followed.  The funeral will be live streamed and the link can be found under Normans name on www.blasestrauser.com.

Services will be held at Blase Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE, Friday, December 4, 2020, 10:30 AM with Pastor Eric Most officiating.

Private burial will be at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the family.
