Farming Rural 19

Leah Miller

July 18, 1963 ~ January 24, 2021 (age 57)

Leah L. Miller (Jackson) passed away peacefully in her home on January 24, 2021. Daughter of Robert and Valarie Jackson, she was born July 18, 1963 in Broken Bow. Leah grew up on her parents’ ranch in Maxwell and enjoyed working with the livestock and in the hayfields. She attended and graduated from Maxwell Public School.

After a day of working cattle with Ivan Miller, they dated, got engaged, and were married on November 3, 1984. Their life together started out on the farm, then moved to Broadwater to start a repair business. They moved back to Maxwell in 1987 and opened their farm equipment business in 1990. During this time, Leah and Ivan welcomed two children, Jessi and Brian, into their lives. Leah loved her family and friends. She spent many years involved in a local extension club and on the school board. She wholeheartedly supported her children in their extracurricular activities, rarely missing an event, no matter the distance. Leah was passionate about 4-H and spent many years leading a dog 4-H club; more important than teaching dogs to sit and stay, she taught her 4-H kids the importance of confidence and how to handle messes with grace. Her other past times included reading, traveling, judging dog and small animal shows, rooting for the Husker baseball and volleyball teams, going to concerts, tractor pulling with Ivan, and showing off her nails, which always looked fabulous.

Leah is preceded in death by her aunt, Cheryl Koinzan; mother-in-law, Ilene Miller; and brother-in-law, Daniel Stevens.

She is survived by her parents, Robert and Valarie Jackson of Maxwell; husband of 36 years, Ivan Miller; daughter, Jessi (Derrick Masters) of Lincoln; son, Brian of North Platte; honorary daughter Tosha Tabke of North Platte; father-in-law, Darold Miller of North Platte; sister-in-law, Christy Stevens of McCook; brother-in-law, Bruce (Billie) Miller of Loveland, Colorado; sister-in-law, Sharon Cooley (Donnell Rose) of Brady; special friends, Tammie Taullie of Maxwell and the Pete Lussetto family of Bridgeport; nine nieces and nephews; 23 grandnieces and grandnephews; one great-grandniece; and numerous cousins.
