Harry Stickelman

February 22, 1944 — April 6, 2021

North Platte, NE

Harry James Hiles Stickelman, 77, of North Platte formerly of Gothenburg, died April 6, 2021 in North Platte with his family by his side.
He was born February 22, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA, son of Marvin and Patricia (Hiles) Stickelman.
Harry lived a majority of his life on the Gothenburg Farm in Hiles Canyon. Harry attended school in Gothenburg and set many state records in track in high school. After graduating from Gothenburg High School, Harry enlisted in the National Guard where he was awarded medals for excellent marksmanship. He moved to Colorado to help build custom homes, he rounded up his own crew and they specialized in sheet rock. His boss said “Harry was the most intelligent person I have ever known.”  Harry was called back to the Gothenburg/Brady farms to help his father.  Along with farming, he worked at Gothenburg Feed Products/Healey Hay Mill at night loading hay into the dryers. He also worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad at Alliance, NE.  Harry and Anita also ran the Homestead restaurant in Gothenburg. In 2014, he moved to North Platte to be close to his children. He passed with his children close by, surrounded with love.
Along with older age, Harry started to have some health problems that were becoming painful for him.  He never complained and was at peace and looked forward to laying in, "Sheol", waiting for Jesus’ return.
Harry enjoyed fishing & hunting, trapping, flower gardening, playing cribbage and driving fast cars.  He was an excellent pool player and enjoyed gambling, especially Texas Hold'em, keno, and the horse races.
As Harry would say with a huge grin and giggle with his bright blue eyes, “Let’s go drink some whiskey and chase some wild women!!!”
Survivors include two daughters, Tonya (Mitch) Fagan of North Platte and Dayna (David) Folger of Johnson, KS; two sons, Wesley Stickelman of North Platte and Patrick Stickelman of North Platte; 16 grandchildren: Kaleb, Rachelle, Chris, Ary, Danny, Jeremy, Brendan, Landon, Tanner, Bentley, Berklin, Sarah, Victor, Darren, Renae, and Cameron; seven great grandchildren: Calan, L’Rae, Brier, Rylee, Dezi, Everertt, and Remi; two sisters, Patricia Ann McMichael of CA and Cynthia Joyce Stickelman of TN.  Dad had many friends and family and extended family throughout his marriages that are not listed but have certainly not been forgotten.
