Edna  Lungrin, 87, of Farnam, Nebraska, died January 17, 2022 in Gothenburg, NE.

On October 6, 1934 Edna was born on the farm of her parents,  Lawrence and Eva (Proctor) Cox,  in Elsie, NE. She is the oldest of five children.

When Edna was two years of age he brother Wayne was born.  He now lives in Boulder, CO.  In 1941 Edna and Wayne were pleasantly surprised by the birth of twins in the family - a brother Kenneth and a sister Kathleen.  Both now reside in North Platte.  Wanda her youngest sister joined the family in 1946, in Imperial.  Edna began her formal education in a country school.  The first three years of her secondary education was in Madrid High School and then the schools consolidated an she graduated from Elsie High School in 1952 as Salutatorian.
Immediately following graduation she began working for the Commercial State Bank of Elsie and worked there until moving to Farnam with the exception of the time she spent with George while he was in the service in the States.
On November 20 1953, George Lungrin and Edna Cox were married. George entered the Army in September 1956.  Edna accompanied George to Fort Smith, Arkansas during January 1957 and later to Fort Niagara, NY until April 15.  George was there until August 1958 and was given a 30 day leave and then he left for Germany.  He was stationed in Fishback, Germany as a mechanic in the Ordinance Division.  Edna stayed in Elsie and resumed her work at the bank.
George returned in 1958 and worked in Elsie until he and Edna moved to the Wilcox farm north of Farnam in 1959.  In January of 1962 George and Edna were elated at the call to come after their new baby daughter, Kristy was welcomed into their home on the 15th of January.  Two years later they were happy to hear they were to get another addition to their family and Roger arrived in May 1964.  The Lungrin family bought the Jim Eckstein farm.  They moved into the town of Farnam in 1994.  Edna worked at the Gothenburg Hospital for many years and retired.  She is a member of the United Methodist Church in Farnam.


Survivors include; Daughter, Kristi (Robert)  Joedeman of Gurley, NE; Son, Roger (Darla) Lungrin of Farnam, NE; two brothers, Kenneth (Lorraine) Cox and Wayne (Bonnie) Cox, two Sisters, Wanda (John) Westphal and Kathleen (Bill) Schneider, Sister-in-law, Edith Chevalier of Wallace, NE, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, George Erland Lungrin. and her parents.

Visitation will be held: Sunday, January 23,  2022, 5:00 - 7:00 pm with family present at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Services will be held Monday, January 24, 2022, 11:00 AM, United Methodist Church of Farnam with Pastor Duncan Ibuuri officiating.

Interment will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery,  Maxwell, NE.

Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church of Farnam, 303 Caribou St, Farnam, NE.
