Craig "Bear" Owen

Craig  Owen, 60, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, passed away September 16, 2022, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born January 12, 1962 in Montpelier, ID; son of Michael and Cheryl (Toomer) Owen .

At the age of two, Craig moved to California where he attended school until the 8th grade. At that time he dropped out and started working to help support his three younger siblings. Craig later moved to Garden City, KS where he went to work at IBP and later transferred to Lexington, NE; where he continued working for IBP. Craig also worked at Goshin Rubber, Monroe's, Frito Lay, and Masshcoff's until he was diagnosed with leukemia in 2019.

The love of his life "Lisa" his 1984 Softtail Harley was always under him. Craig had a passion for hunting, fishing and was an avid knife collector. Craig could not have lived his life without becoming sober March 25, 1993, where he then returned to Cozad High School and got his High School Diploma. Craig was also an active member of the Sober Riders Motorcycle club.

On July 4, 2017 Craig married the love of his life, Toni. To this union three step children were added to his family.

Survivors include wife, Toni Owen of Gothenburg, NE; father, Michael Owen, mother, Cheryl (Toomer) Rhyme, step-daughter, Amber (Don), two step-sons, John and Sean; two granddaughters, Maggie and  Jalyssa,  three sisters, Crystal Owen, Ireta Michelle O'Mally, Tracy (Todd) Bass.

Craig was preceded in death by his sister, Monique Hagwald.

Services will be held at The Crossing Fellowship, September 30, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Eric Most officiating.

Memorials may be directed to the family of Craig (Bear) Owen to help offset expenses.
