Yolanda Martin, 94, of Brady passed away May 5, 2023 at the Elwood Care Center, surrounded by her family.
Yolanda was born November 26, 1928 in Cozad, NE to Ralph (Jonsie) and Hazel Johnson. Yolanda graduated from Cozad High School. She married Del Martin of Gothenburg on January 11, 1947. Their first son, Mike, was born in March of 1948, followed by Greg in June of 1949, and Kevin in 1962. The couple moved north of Brady in 1951 and then west of town in 1954 where they farmed and ranched until the early 80's. They then moved into Brady, with Del employed by Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement. They lived in Brady until Del's death in 2015. They were married for 65 years. Yolanda then moved to Meadowlark Assisted Living in Cozad, and enjoyed her friends there until her move to the Elwood Care Center in July of 2020. Yolanda's passion was her family. She loved large family gatherings and was an amazing cook. She was a devoted wife and mother and very close to her sisters. She enjoyed playing cards and going to bridge club. She attended her kids and grandkids ball games and liked to watch the NBA games on TV. She also enjoyed the Hallmark channel and old westerns on TV. She participated in motorcycle trips with Del and put up with his love of horses. Del and Yolanda enjoyed sitting out front of their Brady house on a warm evening waving at passersby and visiting with friends.
She was survived by sons, Greg (Pat) Martin of Colorado Springs and Kevin (Chris) Martin of Curtis, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Del, son Mike, her parents, her sisters and brother, and many friends.
