Wesley Anderson

Wesley  Anderson, 93, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died September 21, 2017 at Stone Hearth Estates in Gothenburg, NE.

He was born at home north of Gothenburg on May 2, 1924 son of Charles and Hattie (Peterson) Anderson. Wesley grew up on the family farm and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1941.  He married Dorris Henderson on December 2, 1951.  They made their home on the farm where they raised their three children - Britt, Lynn and Gregg. Wesley believed in a strong work ethic and taught his children to love the land and the rural way of life.  The family was honored in 2011 as a Pioneer Farm Family.  After their retirement in the fall of 1980, they moved into Gothenburg.  He was a charter member of the Cozad Elks and enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, cards and fishing. He served on various community boards.

Survivors include two sons, Britt (Jo) Anderson and Gregg (Jackie) Anderson both of Gothenburg, NE; daughter, Lynn (Ray) Thompson of Lincoln, NE; eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, grandsons: Brock & Stacy, Braden and LindlyAnderson; Bryce & Heidi, Ava and Abrielle Anderson; Schuyler Anderson; Trevor & Danette, Beckett, Braelynn, Briarr Anderson; Travis & Kristina and Berkley Anderson; granddaughters: Melissa & Josh and Alaina and Kenna Wilcox; Jena & Marty and Molly & Zachary Ziemba; Jacy & Travis and Hadley Ostergard; special friend Elaine Finke, brothers-in-law Harold Knoedler, and Ivan (Jean) Henderson and a host of friends and extended family.

Wesley was preceded in death by wife, Dorris Anderson in 2005, his parents Charlie and Hattie, sisters, Opal Maline and Delores Knoedler, and twin brother, Wallace Anderson.

Register book signing will be held Monday, September 25, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE.

Memorial Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10:30 am with Rev. David Boyd officiating.
