Violet Lucille Hodson, 99, of Gothenburg died on Friday evening, December 28, 2007 at the family home east of Gothenburg.
Violet was born on December 21, 1908, to Jesse and Rose (Curry) Carr on the family farm at Stockville, NE. She attended country school and graduated from Platte Valley Academy in 1929. She then attended Chamberlain School of Nursing in Chamberlain, SD, graduating with a R.N. degree in 1932. After graduating she returned to Nebraska where she worked as a registered nurse for Dr. Pyle in Gothenburg's first hospital. She later worked for the Gothenburg Hospital, the Shelton Medical Center, and specialized many individual patients.
On November 15, 1936, she married Howard A. Hodson at Gothenburg, NE. To this union two children were born, H. Kent and Connie. Violet was very active in the PVC Club in Gothenburg and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She had a special love for people and enjoyed helping them in anyway she could.
Violet is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Howard A. Hodson of Gothenburg, NE; one son, Dr. H. Kent Hodson of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Connie L White and her husband Ralph of Eustis, NE; many cousins, neices and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 4, 2008, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg with Pastor Larry Milliken officiating.
A private family burial will be held at the Grandview Cemetery in Gothenburg.
