Vern Pete Jorgensen

Vern Pete Jorgensen, 83 of Curtis died on Christmas Day, December 25, 2007 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

Vern was born on March 15, 1924 to JP (Pete) and Anna Elsie (Jepsen) Jorgensen in Lincoln County, NE. He grew up in Lincoln Co. and attended school at Denmark School in Lincoln Co. He also attended school at Liberty School and NSA.

Vern married Darlene Thayer in 1951 in McCook, NE to this union two daughters were born Connie and Linda. Vern farmed south of Curtis for many years. He also drove the school bus for 20 years and served as a night Police Officer in Curtis from 1967 to 1970.

Vern loved to go to dances, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed watching rodeos.

Vern is survived by his daughter Linda and her husband Lee Snyder of McCook; a son-in-law Rick Jacobs and his wife Lois of Lincoln, NE; two brothers Harold Jorgensen and Loren Jorgensen and his wife Lorraine all of Curtis, NE; one sister Erma Taylor of Casper, WY; three grandchildren Doug Snyder and his wife Katy and Daisy and her husband Matt Tiller all of McCook, NE and Elizabeth Jacobs of Lincoln, NE; and one great grandson Conner Snyder and two more great grandchildren expected in the spring.

He was preceded in death by his parents Pete and Anna, a daughter Connie Jacobs and sister-in-law Margaret Jorgensen.

Visitation will be held Tues. Jan 1 from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm with family present from 3-5 at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 2, 2008 St. John's Lutheran Church Curtis, Nebraska with Pastor Paul Warneke officiating.

Burial will take place in the Curtis Cemetery.
