Thure Clinton "Clint" Carlson, 86, of Gothenburg, NE, died on November 19, 2006 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg. He was born in Oakland, NE on May 6, 1920 to Rudolph S. and Betty K. Peterson Carlson. Clint grew up in Oakland and attended Oakland Rural Schools. In March of 1942 he entered the U.S. Army during World War II He served in the European Theatre including Normandy Beach on D-Day, Northern France, and the Rhineland. During his time in the infantry he received several medals, including: 2 Purple Hearts, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantry Badge, Rifle-Marksman and Bronze Service Cluster Arrowhead. He finished his service as a Military Policeman in Paris, France until his discharge in October 1945.

Clint married Elaine Anna Plummer on August 30, 1941 in Fremont, NE. They made their home in Omaha and Elkhorn, NE. He was a ceramic tile contractor. Clint enjoyed woodworking and general carpentry, but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by one son: Les (Kathy) Carlson of Omaha; 2 daughters: Patricia (Richard) Zarek of Gothenburg and Cheri (Brian) Bullock of Gothenburg. Two Brothers: LaVern (Doris) Carlson of Omaha and Arthur (Dora) Carlson of Omaha. 13 Grandchidren. 11 great Grandchildren. 1 great-great grandchild. Nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elaine, one daughter Betty H. Kindschuh, one son Wayne A. Carlson, one brother Carl Carlson, and one niece Janice Armbrust.

Register book will be available to sign on Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2006, 2:00 p.m. at Reichmuth Funeral Home - 21901 W. Maple Road -Elkhorn, NE. Military Rites by the Benson V.F.W. Post #2503 of Elkhorn. Inurnment is in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Elkhorn, NE.
