Ruth Sitorius

Ruth Maxine Sitorius passed away May 30, 2020 at Hilltop Estates.

She was born October 17, 1920 in Cozad, NE, daughter of Bunkum and Dora Bartlett on the family farm northwest of Cozad, NE.

She attended elementary school at Lucerne Valley and graduated from high school in 1938 from Cozad.

On October 17, 1946 she was married to Virgil W. Sitorius and to this union three children were born; Doug, Kay, and Jolyne.

Virgil passed away in February of 1981 and a year later she moved into Gothenburg.

Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center fellowshipping with her friends. Ruth loved gardening and was especially fond of her rose bushes. She was an avid card player and enjoyed Saturday night card club. She also enjoyed teaching her grandchildren her love of skip-bo and chocolate.

She is survived by son, Doug (Connie) Sitorius of Gothenburg, daughters, Kay (Grant) Hinze of Holdrege, and Jo Johnson of Gothenburg; grandchildren Jeremy (Tricia) Sitorius of Gothenburg, Jennifer (David) Campa of San Luis Obispo, CA, Jaime (Joe) Burkink of Gothenburg, Megan Hinze of Ft. Worth, TX, Janelle (James) Leuschen, Washington D.C., Creighton (Cassidy) Hinze of Holdrege, Kimberly (Adam) Pinkerton of Eustis, Ne, and Doran (Molly) Johnson of Lincoln, NE; Great grandchildren Nataleagh and Liliana Sitorius, Kenidi and Colton Campa, Addison and Alexis Burkink, JB Lueschen, Craysten, Caprice and Creeley Jo Hinze, Sister-in-law Lavonne Anderson of Omaha, daughter-in-law Jeanne Sitorius of California along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by husband, Virgil, her parents, brothers, Roy, Guy and Ward Bartlett, sisters, Bernice Moore and Lela Davis.

Private family services will take place.

Interment in Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the donors choice.

The family is very grateful to the staffs at Stone Hearth Estates and Hilltop Estates for the excellent care they provided Ruth in her final years.
