Ruth Marie Brown, 59, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, passed away peacefully March 5, 2020 in her home surrounded by family.
Ruth was born in North Platte on April 27, 1960 to parents, Richard and Elizabeth (Knoll) Garner; she was the youngest of nine children. She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1978. She married her best friend, Joe Brown on July 8, 1978. They raised two daughters, Suny and Chauncey, and four sons, Skye, Tel, Kaihden, and Alex.
Ruth was a passionate follower of Christ. She loved her church family at The Crossing Fellowship and was always sharing Christ’s love with everyone she met. Ruth loved to quilt and working on crafts. Her quilts were a true expression of her love for whomever received them. Ruth raised and bred Standard Poodles later in life. She was always so excited to find forever homes for her puppies and to bring joy to the families that took her puppies. Ruth worked for several years as a CNA/MedAid at Hilltop Estates. Ruth loved her residents and it showed in the work she did.
Survivors include her husband Joe Brown of Gothenburg; her daughter Suny Brown of Gothenburg; her son Skye (Brittany) Brown of Columbus; her daughter Chauncey Brown of Gothenburg; her son Tel (Paula) Brown of Gothenburg; her son Kaihden Brown of Lincoln; her son Alex Garner of Omaha; her siblings Gary (Phylis) Garner of Gothenburg; Ken (Deb) Garner of Chadron; Glenn (Stacey) Garner of Mullen; Al (Jeanie) Garner of Estes Park; Mary Ann (Nick) Rudloff of Crawford, Don (Carolyn) Garner of Sioux City; brothers-in-law Howard (Patty) Brown of Sidney and Tim (Tammy) Brown of Cozad; five grandchildren, Dewley, Paisley, Arya, Radley, and Faye and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Elizabeth Garner; her parents-in-law Earl and Frankie Brown; her brother Doug Garner; her sister Joyce Mizner; her brother-in-law Jim Mizner; her sister-in-law Iva Imler; her nephew Tim Garner; and her niece Laura Garner.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, March 10, 2020, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the family present from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm..
Services will be held at The Crossing Fellowship, March 11, 2020 at 11:00 am with Eric Most officiating.
Interment will follow in the Plainview Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
