Roy B. Bartlett, 95, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died January 11, 2014 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.

Roy was born October 18, 1918 in northwest of Cozad, NE, son of Bunkum and Dora (Hansell) Bartlett. At the age of four Roy's father gave him the nickname of "Boss" which stuck throughout his life.

He grew-up between Gothenburg and Cozad attending school at Lucerne Valley K-8, then Cozad High School, and graduating in 1937. Following high school he entered the U.S. Army and served in the U.S. Engineer Battalion as a Corporal in the Battle of the Bulge. Following his military service he returned home where he farmed and ranched into the early 1990's.

On December 5, 1948, Roy married Catherine Mae Hull at the First Presbyterian Church in Gothenburg. To this union three children where born: Ross, Robin and Joe. Roy and Catherine moved into Gothenburg in 1984.

Surviving are his sons Ross B. (Mary) Bartlett, Rodney Joe Bartlett, his daughter Robin Lynn Bartlett, sister Ruth Sitorius, six grandchildren; Jason Bartlett, Marcus (Taci) Bartlett, Brian Bartlett, Katie (Brendan) Vlasin, Mara (Todd) Tske and Brody Bartlett and six great-grandchildren; Tucker, Chesney, Emma, Ava, Isabelle, and Olivia; along with nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Bunkum and Dora Bartlett; wife Catherine Mae Bartlett; brothers Guy and Ward, sisters Bernice Moore and Lela Davis; daughter-in-law Kristie Bartlett, and friend of 75 years - Gerald Zook.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, January 15, 2014 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
