Rose Marie Kampfe of Gothenburg, Nebraska died December 22, 2019 in Cozad, NE, on her 90th birthday and four years to the day after Walter Kampfe, her beloved husband of 65 years.
She was born December 22, 1929 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Harry and Rose (Sylvan) Hiles. Rose Marie graduated from Gothenburg High with the class of 1947, she then attended the University of Denver. Walt Kampfe returned from the Army Air Force to complete his BA at the University of Denver and there he proposed to Rose Marie. They married in 1950 and to this union four children were born. She was a busy wife and mother, supporting her family in all their endeavors. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church.
Rose Marie loved to play bridge, read and raise roses. In her younger days, she enjoyed fishing, sewing and dancing. Rose Marie inherited a portion of the Hiles family farm and worked together with her nephews to keep the farm in operation. She was proud of her agricultural roots and continued to have an interest in the farming activities.
Surviving are her four children Katholeen Kampfe of Tampa, FL; Lynda Stratton of Grants Pass, OR; Matthew (Mary) Kampfe of Kearney, NE and Jamie (Colomba) Kampfe of Blairstown, NJ, 10 grandchildren Jama, Carla, Austin, Hunter, Aysha, Andrew, Karson, Josef, Ariana and Harrison; and ten great grandchildren Caden, Mavin, Jamason, Aubrey, Robbie, Camille, Kobe, Braiden, Kalia, Liliana and a new one joining the family in January 2020 along with her especially supportive nephew James Dalrymple.
Rose Marie was preceded in death by husband, Walter Raymond Kampfe, her parents, sisters, Patricia Stickleman and Katholeen Dalrymple, brother, James Hiles, son-in-law, Don Stratton, and nephews Glenn Dalrymple, Dan Dalrymple, James Stickelman, and Ron Kampfe.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, December 29, 2019, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at American Lutheran Church, 1512 Ave G, Gothenburg, Monday, December 30, 2019 at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
