Roger Headley

Roger Dean Headley, 67, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died May 26, 2015 in Omaha, NE.

He was born May 18, 1948 in Callaway, NE, son of Dean and Marge (Pitkin) Headley.

He grew up in Callaway and graduated from Callaway High in 1967.  He spent two years serving his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam era.  After his honorable discharge, he graduated from Mid-Plains Tech School in 1972.   On October 12, 1973 he married Jackie Lambertus at Phillipsburg, KS.   They lived at Grand Island for four years, north of Gothenburg for five years and then moved into Gothenburg in 1981.  Roger and Jackie were blessed with three children - Jason, Jamie, and Julie.

Roger worked as a machinist and a truck driver.  He was a member of the American Legion.  In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, antiques, garage sales and auctions.  He loved to fix things.  He loved "Junk", but mostly he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Headley of Gothenburg, NE; two sons, Jason (April) Headley of Eustis, NE, Jamie (Amy) Headley of Gothenburg, NE; two daughters, Julie (John) Hammonds of Grovetown, GA, Rhonda Headley of Omaha, NE; two brothers, David (Terri) Headley of Wayne, NE, Jeffery Headley of Kearney, NE; two sisters, Becky (Tim) Nickel of Waverley, NE, Carol (Ron) Koch of Minden, NE; seven grandsons, Gage, Joe, Dash, Jacob, Ben, Tripp and Cole; four granddaughters, Mallory, Shelby, Isabella and Zoe; along with many friends and extended family members.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Dean and Marge Headley and his In-Laws Marvin and Geraldine Lambertus.

Graveside memorial services will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Monday, June 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Ned Cooper officiating.

Inurnment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
