Robert Ludwig

February 16, 1938 — August 25, 2020

Robert "Bob" Ludwig, 82, of Lincoln, NE, died August 25, 2020 in Lincoln, NE.

He was born February 16, 1938 in Gothenburg son of Emil and Helen (Grady) Ludwig.  Bob grew up in Gothenburg and attended Gothenburg High School.  After graduation he married his high school sweetheart Janice Cole on Aug. 2, 1959 in Gothenburg; to this union four children were born. As a young family starting out Bob and Jan moved several times within the state of Nebraska.  Their first move was to Fremont so Bob could attend Midland Lutheran College.  While living in Fremont Kim was born in 1960 and Sherri in 1962.  Bob graduated from Midland Lutheran College in 1962 with an Accounting Degree and moved the family to Scottsbluff for a job as an Internal Revenue Agent where Scott was born in 1963. Then the family moved to Sidney in 1964 so Bob could study for his CPA’s license which he received in 1967. The growing family moved to North Platte where Bob started working for Hansen Fuenning as a CPA and by 1972 formed a partnership with Haney, Ramaekers and Ludwig, which later became Haney, Martin and Ludwig. Kari was born in 1969.  In 1995 Bob moved to Lincoln and continued his career as a CPA and also worked in several accountant positions;  Gil Grady and Associates, Mobile Home Sales of Lincoln and retiring from Nebraska Farm Business Inc in 2012.  Bob came out of retirement to help mentor a former co-worker at NFB so he could open his own CPA firm, Ridge View Accounting & Tax, CPA, PC in Lincoln.  He worked for another 4 years there and retired (again), although a CPA/Accountant never truly retires.  Bob continued to help family and friends with taxes and accounting needs until his death.

Bob was involved with Boy Scouts and 4H as a boy and as an adult a leader for both organizations.  He was also involved in AA.  He loved to travel, the family went on many vacations around the US, Canada and Mexico.  From fishing trips to Canada, skiing, camping/hiking vacations in Colorado and Wyoming to several trips to Mexico to go snorkeling and scuba diving.  Bob liked the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, snow and water skiing, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, RVing and gardening (he loved his tomatoes).

He is survived by two daughters Kimbra (Tim) Green of Omaha; Kari (Steve) Novak of Lincoln; son Scott Ludwig of Bentonville; AR; grandchildren Jacob Stark of Lincoln, Dylan Ludwig (Mylasia) Bella Vista, AR, Hannah Green and Sarah Green both Omaha; sister Glenda Wilson (Bob) of Gothenburg; son-in-law Matt Stark (Vawn) of North Platte; Janice Ludwig of Lincoln; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
