Robert D. Bullock, 85, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died July 12, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.

He was born February 25, 1929 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Cloyd Valentine and Harriet Johanna (Golden) Bullock.

He graduated from Gothenburg High School and was a member of the 1948 State champion football team. Bob served his country during the Korean Conflict for 2 years and was medically discharged. He continued in the Patriotic Spirit the rest of his life. He was a member of the American Legion Post 64 for over 50 years and was the Commander in 1973/74. His Legion activities included helping with the baseball program, Junior Law Program, placing flags and crosses on Veteran's graves, and raising money for 4th of July fireworks. He was involved in the "40 & 8". Bob was the recipient of the Nebraska Legionnaires Cody Kerr Award for community service. He volunteered his time and energy to many other projects thru the years. He enjoyed playing Santa Clause for many years and Bubbles The Clown at parades. Bob was a former Boy Scout Leader and an Eagle Scout. He was involved in Apples For Teachers. Bob was awarded the Aksarben Good Neighbor Award, the Legion Horse Collar Award.

Bob married Lois Newbrey on January 27, 1956 at the First United Methodist Church in Gothenburg. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed his grandkids and great grandkids.

Thru the years, Bob owned a Linkers Super Service; worked at Farmland Service CO-Op; at the Gothenburg airport; helped pick corn for Darren Franzen, and worked at Monsanto sorting corn. He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church.

Surviving are son, Brian (Cheri) Bullock, daughter, Deborah (Larry) Horstman; daughter, Laura Kelly and Bruce Wootan; grandchildren: Becky, Jennie, Colleen, Michael, and Stephanie; great-grandchildren Kyle, Tyler, Kinsey Belle, Autumn, Chase, Isiah, Morgan, Noah, Dakota, Amaya, Cayden, Lexi, Clinton, Bralynn; and a great great grandchild "on-the-way".

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois, and a great grandson Cory Pflaster; brother Jackie; sister Dorrene.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, July 15, 2014 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, July 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Joel Plisek officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery .
