Richard Ostendorf

Richard Alan Ostendorf, 69, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died January 6, 2015 at his home in Gothenburg, NE with his family by his side.

He was born December 12, 1945 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Marcus Lincoln and Doris Elaine (Miller) Ostendorf.  He attended school in Gothenburg graduating with the class of 1964.

Dick served in the Army  from 1965 to 1967 spending a year and a half in Germany.  Following his return from the Army he married the love of his life Janet Kirstein  on January 6, 1968 at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg.  Dick worked as a Petroleum Salesman for All Points Coop for 28 years.

He was a  Webeloes Leader and he also was a member of the American Legion.  Dick enjoyed  fishing and hunting and loved camping, but his first love was his family.

Surviving are wife, Janet (Kirstein) Ostendorf of Gothenburg, NE,  son Matthew Ostendorf of Gothenburg, daughter Jennifer Kragh of Krum, Texas,  sister, Jonette Jo (Larry) Jensen of Holdrege, NE, four grandchildren: Shaila, (Larry) Stoner, Mackinzie and Savannah Ostendorf, and Justin Kragh; two Great Grandchildren: Josephine Ostendorf and Audryaunna Stoner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Jeff Kragh.

Memorial Services will be held at American Lutheran Church, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating.
