Rex Fenner

Rex Eugene Fenner, 94, of Gothenburg, NE, died November 24, 2017 at Gateway Vista in Lincoln, NE.

He was born December 26, 1922 in Sumner, NE, son of Dale DeWayne and Goldie Estella (Rea) Fenner.

Rex grew up at Eddyville and graduated from Eddyville High.    Rex loved to play baseball and was on the Sodbusters Team.  Rex married Dorothy Franzen on February 8, 1948.  To this union three children were born  son - Eric, two daughters Carol and Audrey.  Rex and Dorothy were long time active members of the Zion Lutheran Church and were Luther League Sponsors along with many other areas of service.  He enjoyed his family and had a great sense of humor and was well liked by his many friends.  He had no difficulty talking to strangers. Rex farmed in the Gothenburg area.  He had a very special talent of making small replica metal tractors and other creative things.  After he moved into the assisted living he made very detailed things such as a horse drawn wagons and other old time implements out of wood and other materials.  He had patience like no other in getting everything made to his perfection.

Surviving are son, Eric (Beverly) Fenner of Gothenburg, NE; two daughters, Carol (Loren) Gronewold of Sedona, AZ, Audrey (Terry) Haake of Denton, NE; four grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren;   sister, Crystal Johnson;  brother-in-law, Willard Kuhlman; along with nieces and nephews and extended family.

Rex was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Fenner in 2015;  his parents;  brother, Earl Fenner;  two sisters, Ellen Larson and Mary Gruber.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Friday, December 1, 2017, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 6:00-8:00 pm..

Funeral Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Carol Mapa officiating.

Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
