Rachel Elizabeth Bringelson, 90, of Gothenburg, NE. died on Wednesday, November 29, 2006. She was born in Gothenburg, NE., on February 23, 1916 to Mason E. and Fanny (Blank) Hyde. She grew up in Gothenburg and attended the Banner School, Dawson County District 62 and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1932. She taught 6 years in rural schools near Gothenburg.

On June 3, 1938 she married Alvin M. Bringelson at the Banner United Methodist Church in Gothenburg.

Rachel was an 80 year member of the Banner United Methodist Church of Gothenburg. She was a past Worthy Matron of Gothenburg Chapter #274 Order of the Eastern Star. She served in District and Conference Offices of United Methodist Women, was active in Dawson and Lincoln County Extension Clubs and 4-H. She served on various advisory committees for the Univ. of Nebr. Extension Service. She served 12 years on the Maxwell Board of Education.

Survivors include her husband Alvin. One son: Richard A. and Julie (Ferris) Bringelson. One daughter: Deborah Rae (Bringelson) Spading Five grandchildren: Liwana, Dawn, and Carin Bringelson, and Melissa (Spading) Jerabek and Elizabeth (Spading) Freeze. 12 Great Grandchildren.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Mark Spading, a son-in-law: Jerome Spading, brothers & sisters-in-law Glenn and Lucille Hyde and Mason and Effie Hyde.

Funeral services are in the care of Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska, and will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006, 1:30 p.m. at the Banner United Methodist Church, Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Rev. Janie Freeman officiating. Burial is in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with family present to greet the public from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
