Paul Thompson, 95, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died August 28, 2017 in Kearney, NE.

Paul was born December 16, 1921, the son of Agnes and WT Thompson of Cozad, NE.  Paul grew up in Cozad and worked at JC Penny's part time and graduated from Cozad High School.   He lived at Cozad until he went to California to attend aeronautic school.  Paul served his country in World War II as a navigator in the Air Corps. He married Jewell Thompson, an Army nurse during WWII.

After his air force career, Paul returned to Cozad and went into the insurance and real estate business with his father W.T.  Paul worked into his seventies.  He also was a senior master appraiser and appraised farm land into his eighties.

In December of 1973 Paul married Patricia Ann Bargholz of San Diego, CA.  Patricia and Paul have resided in Gothenburg for forty three years.  Paul and Patty loved to travel and were always on the go.  They shared a strong faith and were active in the Victory Assembly of God Church.  Paul was an avid reader and enjoyed good humor.

Surviving are wife, Patricia Ann Thompson of Gothenburg, NE, son, Paul Richard Thompson, daughter Dianne Thompson, step-daughters, Jodi (Keith) Carlson and Dorrie Unlauf; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and a host of friends and extended family.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, sister Maxine Thompson Churchill, brother Ted Thompson, step-son Jeff Bargholz and great granddaughter Juliet Strasburg.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Monday, September 4, 2017, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Graveside services will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 10:00 am with Rev. Ray Corlew and Rev. Mark Borchardt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Victory Assembly of God, 2611 Lake Avenue, Gothenburg, NE 69138 or donor's Choice.
