Nic Ostergard

June 8, 1954 — November 5, 2016

Gage Nicholas Ostergard Jr, 62, of Callaway, Nebraska, died November 5, 2016 at home near Callaway, as the result of a farm accident.

Nic was born June 8, 1954 in Omaha, NE, son of Gage and Sara Jane (Moore) Ostergard.

Nic grew up in the Gothenburg area and attended school in Gothenburg graduating with the class of 1972. Nic had a love for cars, enjoying both racing them and working on them. Nic was employed at Country Partners in Callaway as a mechanic.  He enjoyed working on customers cars and paid special attention to their clean windshields!

Nic married Karlene Breuer on May 29, 1977 at Gothenburg.  Nic and Karlene lived on the family farm near Callaway and raised their two children there. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.  Nic had a special love for his cows and the country way of life.  He was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist church, serving as a deacon, singing, and helping in any way he could.

Those left to mourn include his wife, Karlene Ostergard of Callaway, NE; son, Garth (Michelle) Ostergard and their daughters Anslee and Lynzy of Callaway, NE; daughter, Elaine (Josh) Claypoole and their children Abbie, Hayden, Diesel and Linkin of Clovis, NM; sister, Barb  (Chuck) Havlicek Ostergard of Manhatten, KS; two brothers Steve Ostergard of Gothenburg, John (Jan) Ostergard of Grand Island, NE; along with numerous extended family and a host of friends.

Nic was preceded in death by his parents Gage and Sara Jane.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, November 10, 2016, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. with family present from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1401 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, NE, Friday, November 11, 2016 at 10:30 am with Pastor Joseph Carty officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
