Nancy Callahan

Nancy Callahan, 69, of Cozad, Nebraska, died August 9, 2015 at the Cozad Community Hospital in Cozad, NE.

She was born June 5, 1946 in Cozad, NE, daughter of Wayne and Ella Darlene Yeutter. She was raised at Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School.

Nancy married Robert Dean Callahan on February 14, 1965 at Cozad, NE; to this union three children were born Ada Darlene, Candace and Shane. Nancy and Bob were a farming and ranching family and made their home south of Gothenburg, Oconto, then back to Gothenburg area.  After Bob's death in 2002, Nancy moved to Cozad.  Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family.  She collected elephants and liked to play computer games and card games.  Nancy was a member of the Gothenburg SDA Church; for many years she was involved in the "Dorcus Society", Pathfinders and kids activities.  She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years.  Nancy loved to cook, she helped in the kitchen at Camp Arrowhead for many events.  She was well known for her cinnamon rolls, cherry mash, peanut brittle and her taco salad.

Survivors include her two daughters, Ada Darlene (David) Peckham of Indianola, NE, Candace Valerie Sartin of Cozad, NE; son, Shane Robert Callahan of Gothenburg, NE; two grandsons, Shawn Peckham, Chase Callahan; granddaughter, Cassy Callahan; sister, Penny (Martin) Egbarts of Cozad;  three brothers, Ray Yeutter of Elwood; Gary (Norma) Yuetter of Cozad; Edwin (Ann) Yeutter of Lexington;  two brother-in-laws, Willis (Onna) Callahan of Alda, NE, Doug (Marlene) Callahan of Cozad, NE; two sister-in-laws, Rosie (Cecil) Baker of Kearney, NE; Chris (Lynn) Barnes of Cozad, NE;  along with many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends including the four legged variety.

Nancy was preceded in death by husband, Robert Dean Callahan, her parents-in-law Bill and Ruth Callahan; brother-in-law, Larry Callahan, father, Wayne Yeutter, step-mother, Arlene Yeutter, mother, Ella Darlene Yeutter.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, August 12, 2015, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm with the family present from 3:00-5:00 pm.

Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, August 13, 2015 at 3:00 pm.

Interment will follow in the Gaslin Cemetery, Brady, Nebraska.
