Nadine Liljestrand

Nadine Edna Liljestrand, 89, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died March 23, 2016 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in Gothenburg, NE.

She was born February 27, 1927 southwest of Brady, NE, daughter of Edward and Ruby (Hoaglund) Janeski.  She grew up in the "South Hills" in the Moorefield area.  She attended school at Jeffery Queen School and then Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis.  She taught school at the "Craig" school for 2 years and then taught at Jeffery Queen.  She married Harlan Liljestrand on August 3, 1947. Nadine was a busy farm wife and mother to three children - Rodney, Glenda and Gloria. They farmed and ranched in the Gothenburg/Brady area until retiring to Gothenburg in 1989.

Nadine was a member of the United Methodist Church, the UMW, and the DLC Extension Club. Nadine was in a weekly quilting group and ladies group.  She was a volunteer for the Senior Center and enjoyed writing and receiving letters and baking cinnamon rolls.

Survivors include her son, Rodney Liljestrand of Brady; two daughters, Glenda Streff of Hastings, Gloria (Rick) Liljestrand-Barber Littleton, CO; two brothers, Donald (Mary) Janeski, Dean Janeski; sister, Beverly (David) Kitzing; sister-in-law Patty Johnson; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and extended family and friends.

Nadine was preceded in death by husband, Harlan Liljestrand; parents Edward and Ruby Janeski; brother Darrell Janeski; son-in-law Terry Streff; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jack Snyder and infant brother Janeski.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Monday, March 28, 2016, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

Funeral will be held at First United Methodist Church, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 10:00 am with Pastor Joel Plisek officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
