Mark Axthelm

Mark Axthelm, 68, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died April 15, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 29, 1952, in North Platte, NE, son of Cecil and Doris (Anderson) Axthelm.

Mark grew up in North Platte attended school at McKinley Grade School and graduated from North Platte High School.  He lived in North Platte until 1971 and moved to Gothenburg until his passing.

He married Stephanie Weber on April 2, 1971 in North Platte, NE and to this union they had two children Jamie and Jenny.   Mark and Steph farmed and ranched south of Gothenburg.  He was a member of Banner United Methodist Church and had received his 50 year membership pin.

Mark loved his grandchildren dearly and loved to hunt and also loved his cattle.

Survivors include wife, Steph Axthelm of Gothenburg; one daughter, Jenny (Steve) Skupa of Campbell, one son, Jamie (JoEllen) Axthelm of Seward, five grandchildren Mackenzie Skupa, Alexa Axthelm, Sydney Skupa, Abbie Skupa and Ander Axthelm, one sister Kylie (David) Young of Rogersville, MO, two brothers, Tim (Mary) Axthelm of North Platte and Mike Axthelm of Hillsboro, OR and many nieces, nephews and other family.

Mark was preceded in death by parents, Cecil and Doris Axthelm, sister-in-law, Deb Axthelm; and niece, Donnie Farr.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, April 18, 2021, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. with family present from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.

Services will be held at Banner United Methodist Church, April 19, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Janie Freeman officiating.  Casual dress is encouraged and jeans or overalls would be appropriate.

Burial will follow in the Peckham Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to Banner United Methodist Church or Callahan Cancer Center, P.O.Box 1168, North Platte, NE, 69103.
