Marilyn Sue Brock, 69, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died July 27, 2019 at home in Gothenburg, NE.
Marilyn was born July 30, 1949 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Lavern and Harriet (Jensen) Oberg. She grew up on her family’s farm north of Gothenburg, and was a proud Gothenburg resident for her entire life. Marilyn married Clifford Brock on August 16, 1980 and became a mother to Clifford’s four children, who she loved as her own. Years later, their fifth child, Chelsey was born.
Marilyn graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1967. She worked as a receptionist and book keeper for several Gothenburg businesses, and also enjoyed odd-jobs such as driving the grain cart for her brother Mark’s farming business, selling sweet corn and catering with her mother, Harriet. She was most recently an office manager for Electric Rain where she retired from in 2016. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, and was devoted to Christ throughout her entire life. Marilyn loved working with flowers and making arrangements and gardening, was an avid baker and loved to cook and host gatherings, including her July 4th and Harvest Parade celebrations. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and young nieces and nephew who adored her knack for reading children books and famous frosted sugar cookies.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford Brock of Gothenburg; sons: Travis (Mindy) Brock of Cozad; Detrick (Kirsten) Brock of Alpharetta, GA; Warren Brock of Montana; daughters Della (Dave) Hengen of Gothenburg and Chelsey (Travis) Duncan of Omaha; 12 grandchildren; brother Mark (LaNona) Oberg of Gothenburg; sisters Muriel Gengenbach of Denver, CO; Marcia (Doug) Folkers of Littleton, CO; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Lavern and Harriet Oberg and infant sister Molly Oberg.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE; Monday, July 29, 2019, 2:00 - 7:00 pm with the family present from 4:00 - 6:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be held at American Lutheran Church, July 30, 2019 at 10:30 am with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating.
Burial will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE.
