Margaret "Peggy" Ellison

November 18, 1929 — May 30, 2015

Margaret "Peggy" Eileen Sitorius Ellison, 85, of Omaha, formerly of Gothenburg, NE, died May 30, 2015  at Brighton Gardens in Omaha, NE.

She was born on November 18, 1929 on the family farm near Gothenburg to John G. and Josie E. (Nichols) Sitorius.

She attended school in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High with the class of 1947.  Peggy then attended Central Business College in Denver, CO, graduating in nine months with a full secretarial degree.  She then returned to Gothenburg where she worked for a short time for First State Bank.  She then started working for Gothenburg Memorial Hospital where she worked in Medical Records for 15 years.

Peggy married Orval Ellison on February 6, 1949 at Gothenburg.  She was a devoted mother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was the secretary on the executive board.  She was a devoted church worked and held several church offices thru the years including President of the UMW.  She is a past Honored Queen of Bethel #28 Job's Daughters and a lifetime member.

Peggy learned to play bridge and played with an afternoon bridge club every Monday for 20 years and another bridge club that met in the evenings.  She lived in Gothenburg until she became ill, she then moved to Omaha for more professional care.

Survivors include her children Alan Ellison and wife Nikki, of Gretna, NE and David Ellison of Gothenburg NE; nine grandchildren: Tiffany, Jessy, Elissa, and Landon all of Gothenburg; Christopher of Austin, TX, Cameron of Omaha, Chelsea of Gretna, Brittney of Dakota Dunes, SD, and Sam of Omaha; 19 great grandchildren.

Peggy was preceded in death by husband, Orval Ellison, infant daughter Pamela, her parents; sister, Shirley Bartlett, daughter-in-law, Peggy Jo Ellison.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 1:00 -8:00 with the family present from 5-7 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1401 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, Friday,  June 5, 2015 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Joel Plisek officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska next to her husband Orval.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, 1401 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, NE.
