Luetta Peterson

Luetta Aleen Wenquist Peterson was born February 5, 1947 to Morris and Pauline Wenquist in Broken Bow, Nebraska. She left for her heavenly home on December 7, 2014 at her home in rural Gothenburg from complications of a 16 month battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Luetta grew up in Broken Bow participating in many musical endeavors and graduating with the class of 1965. While in school set met her husband, Jerry, playing cornet in the Southwest Conference Band Clinic. They were married on August 31, 1968 in Broken Bow.

Luetta was a Hastings College graduate and used her musical abilities to play piano for many years at New Hope and the Evangelical Free Churches in Gothenburg. One of her many pastimes was listening to and watching the Gaither video series along with all of the other Gospel singers. Luetta and Jerry were able to go on the The Gaither Cruise in February 2014 and it was one of the highlights of her life.

Luetta spent her married life learning about farming and became a very good helpmate. Her primary goal in life was to raise her three children to become one of God's children and this goal was achieved.

Luetta was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Pauline Wenquist, brother, Clayton Wenquist, father and mother in-laws, Raymond and Clara Peterson, and two nephews, Kelly and Kim Peterson.

Luetta is survived by her husband Jerry, daughters Renee Lynn (Rod) Hubbard of Lincoln, Tina Rae (Todd) Brown of Oxford, and Son Travis Jay (Ginny) Peterson of Gothenburg, 7 grandchildren, Skye and Sierra Hubbard, Peter and Trevor Brown, Trenton, Gavin, and Payton Peterson, sister Alice Eastman of Lincoln, along with many nieces, nephews, and a host of caring friends.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, December 10, 2014, 9:00 am - 7:00 pm. with the family present from 5-7.

Funeral Services will be held at Evangelical Free Church, Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Robert Litzenberger officiating.

Private interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
