Louis Mak

Louis Mak, 90, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died March 19, 2016 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

He was born July 10, 1925 in Cozad, NE, son of Lewis and Flossie Mak.

As a youth he lived in the country south of Eustis. He later moved into Eustis and lived there until he went over seas to fight in World War II. When he came home from the war, he made his home in Cozad. Louis married Helen Hood on June 25, 1948 in Norton, KS. Louis and Helen later moved to the Quad Cities in Iowa where they resided for 19 years and raised their family. They then moved to Gothenburg and owned Lake Side Bowl and remained in Gothenburg until his passing. Louis was a father, truck driver, and business owner through the years.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church for over 77 years, Nebraska Bowling Proprietors Association, and the Gothenburg Men's Bowling Association. Louis enjoyed his grandchildren, trucking, bowling, family oriented activities, playing cards and games, and watching Husker football games.

Surviving are wife Helen of Gothenburg; daughter, Barbara (Bob) Hicken of Gothenburg, NE; son Daniel (Syliva) Mak of Scottsbluff, NE, son-in-law Joseph Lohrman of Osceola; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandkids, half brother Don Penn and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Flossie Mak, daughter, Lynetta Lohrman, grandson, Colby Leigh Hicken, half brother Vern Penn and sister, Geraldine Rehder.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, March 23, 2016, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 4:00-6:00 pm.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Thursday,  March 24, 2016 at 10:00 am with Pastor Joel Plisek officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
