Louis Clymer

Louis Ralph Clymer was born November 10, 1917 to Ralph E. Clymer and Edna (Althauser) Clymer at Greenwood, Nebraska. He died at Gothenburg, NE on December 9, 2006 and he recently celebrated his 89 birthday.. He lived on a farm with his parents through high school and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Rural Economics. During World War II he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was sent to Columbia University, N.Y. for further training. He was commissioned as an Ensign, U.S. Naval Reserve and saw duty in the South Pacific. While in the Marshall Islands during the invasion of Kwajalein and Eniewetook Islands, his ship was hit and he sustained serious injures. He was awarded the Purple Heart and retired as Lieutenant, Sr. grade, U.S. Navy Reserve. Following his release from service, he became an assistant Dawson Extension County Agent, and later county agent for Thomas County area. He was married to Jean Gustafson at Brady, NE. on June 21, 1947 and farmed south of Brady from 1949 to 1990. After retiring, they moved to Gothenburg in 1991. His favorite pastime was playing cards and golfing with friends and was especially proud to have scored two hole-in-ones. He also was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing at the Gothenburg Golf Course, Wildhorse, and also at Curtis where he spent many fun days this past summer. After retirement, travels included the 50 states as well as Mexico, Canada, Europe, and over 20 years wintering in Tucson, AZ. He was a 50 yr. member of the United Methodist Church, first in Brady and later transferring to Gothenburg. He was also a former member of the Brady School Board, a lifetime member of the American Legion, V.F.W., B.P.O.E. Elks 985, and former member of Brady Lions Club. Survivors include Jean, his wife of 59 years, a daughter Janelle (Larry Beran) of Stephenville TX, sons Stephen (Jolleen) of Lincoln, Mark (Sandra) of Gibbon, Bruce (Lori) of Gothenburg; ten grandchildren, Chris (Christina) Beran of Little Elm, TX, Jamie (Amy) Beran of Georgetown, TX, Michael Beran of Stephenville, TX. Shea Clymer of Austin, TX, Brittany Clymer of Lincoln, Stacy (Shane) Rockefeller of Ravenna, Kelsey Clymer of Lincoln, Jennie Clymer and Jill Clymer of Omaha, and Josie Clymer of Manhatten, KS great grandchildren; Quentin, Baylee and Kreyton Rockfeller, and Cooper Beran, two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John and an infant sister Melinda. Services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2006 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Gothenburg with Rev. Randy Dilts officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 12, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. é�a��" 9:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 é�a��" 8:00 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg. Burial will be at Gaslin Cemetery south of Brady with military honors. Memorials may be given to Gothenburg Senior Center 410 20th Street Gothenburg, NE 69138; Nebraska Boys Ranch, P.O.
