Lorene Fenner

Lorene B Fenner, 96, of Gothenburg passed away on January 1, 2016 in Kearney.

Lorene Bernice Fenner was born April 19, 1919 at Gothenburg, NE to John & Louise (Frank) Geiken. She lived her entire life in the Gothenburg community. She attended Zion Lutheran Church and their youth groups, being baptized and confirmed April 21, 1946 by Rev C.H. Kemper. Later she was received as a member to Cozad Methodist Church on March 24, 1959 by Rev. Nye 0. Bond. After moving into Gothenburg she transferred to Gothenburg United Methodist Church in June 1970 by Rev. Hugh Houchin.

She was a member of UMW and other church activities, and the O.I.C. Club. Lorene volunteered at the Gothenburg senior center and at the bloodmobile for over 40 years.

On September 1, 1947 she married Earl D. Fenner. They had three children - Darrell, Anita & Jalene.

Lorene is preceded in death by her husband Earl on November 13, 1988, her parents, an infant brother and son-in-law Gerald Greeley.

Survivors are a son Darrell Fenner & wife Becky of Louisiana, daughter Anita Greeley of Brule, NE, and daughter Jalene Davis & husband Don of Kearney, NE, brother Alvin Geiken & wife Wanda of Gothenburg NE, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, January 5, 2016, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, January 6, 2016 at 10:00 am with Pastor Joel Plisek officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to the Methodist Church in Gothenburg, Gothenburg Senior Center or Donors Choice.
