Lois Alberts

Lois Marguerite Alberts, 93, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died May 29, 2017 in Gothenburg, NE.

She was born October 18, 1923 north of Willow Island, NE, the daughter of Steward R and Gladys F (Deal) Vickers.

Lois grew up in Willow Island, and graduated from Gothenburg High with the class of 1941.  Lois married Frank E. Jenkins in 1944 and they had four children - Shirley, Janet, Mike and Karen.  Lois was a busy wife and mother.  She was involved in her kids' 4-H activities and cub scouts.  She worked for Glen Price for a short time, and for Dickenson Safeway store.

She married Emil C. Alberts on January 18, 1973.  She was actively involved in the farm and ranch operation, cooking meals, farming, irrigating, bookkeeping and working cows.  She enjoyed life on the farm especially the animals - dogs, cows & calves, horses and chickens.  Lois was involved with a Secretary's Group.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church.  Lois often talked about attending Bible School as a young girl and received a Bible after three years of attendance. Lois enjoyed watching sports, working crossword puzzles and sewing.

Survivors include her two daughters, Shirley Logan of Warren, OH, and Janet Jenkins of Gothenburg, NE; six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Emil Alberts, her son Mike Jenkins, daughter Karen Mann, granddaughter Tiffany Logan, and her parents Steward and Gladys Vickers.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, June 4, 2017, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm with the family present from 2 - 3.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Monday, June 5, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Joel Plisek officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
