Lisa Wilson

January 26, 1962 — April 16, 2021

Lisa Lynn (Ecklund) Wilson, 59, of rural Gothenburg, passed away April 16th, 2021 at Gothenburg Health after a long battle with kidney disease.

Lisa was born January 26, 1962 in Minden to Norris and Carole Ecklund. She grew up in Cozad and graduated with the class of 1980. She earned her nursing degree at Bryan School of Nursing and graduated in June of 1984. On June 18th, 1983, she married Mathew Wilson in Cozad. The couple moved to rural Gothenburg after finishing college.

She started her nursing career at Southview Manor in Cozad, then to Gothenburg Hospital for 2 years, and onto work at Gothenburg Family Practice for 15 years. She has been employed at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in the Cardiac Rehab department for 16 years. She celebrated 30 years of nursing in 2014 until she

could no longer work due to health issues. In 2016, Lisa did go back to Gothenburg Health one day a week as her health allowed.

Lisa was very involved in activities. She directed VBS for many years at Banner Church, served on various committees within the church, and played the piano for many years. She was coordinator of MOPS and served on the board for 11 years. She was briefly involved in the Red Cross as a volunteer, and Jobs Daughters as director of music. She loved going to her children’s activities and was the one early to save seats for everyone. She was involved in AWANA for 20 years teaching kindergarten. Her passion was helping and serving others to know Christ.

Lisa loved to play the piano, read, go shopping with friends, but most of all doing things as a family. Her husband and children were the center of her life. Her greatest joy was becoming a grandma “mimi” to Brecken, Grady, Darren, and Gavin. She was very proud of all 4 children and grandchildren.

Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents Carl and Osa Ecklund, and Fred and Clara Timm. Her parents Norris and Carole Ecklund, cousin Julie Smiley, and Uncle Dayne and Aunt Berneice Smith.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 38 years, Matt; daughter Ashley (Brent) Knust of Tilden, NE; sons Ben Wilson of Gothenburg, Nolan (Elizabeth) Wilson of rural Cozad, and Dane Wilson of Joplin, MO. Grandsons Brecken and Gavin Knust, and Grady and Darren Wilson. Brothers Steve (Linda) Ecklund of Grand Island, and Scott (Robyn) Ecklund of Bartelsville, OK. Mother and Father-in-Law Bob and Glenda Wilson of rural Gothenburg. Sister-in-Law Crys (Doug) Max of rural Gothenburg. Step-mother Roine Ecklund of Gothenburg. Many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins. Also, her dear friends whom were very special to her.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, April 20, 2021, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the family present from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm..

Services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 21st, 2021 at Gothenburg Methodist Church with Pastors Janie Freeman and Arun Peters officiating.

Burial will follow in the Peckham Cemetery.

Memorials are asked to be given to Banner United Methodist Church or the Nebraska Kidney Foundation.
