Leroy Cyriacks

LeRoy Edward Cyriacks, 85, of Grand Island, formerly of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died April 7, 2018 in Grand Island.

He was born September 19, 1932 on the family farm near Gothenburg, son of Albert and Margaret Cyriacks.

In 1953, LeRoy joined the Army and served as a confinement specialist for two years.  While serving his country he earned the National Defense Service Medical SS (Carbine) and the Good Conduct Medal. He married Elsie Struempler on July 24, 1955 in Cozad and to this union two daughters were born - Darlene and Lisa.

LeRoy was baptized and confirmed in the American Lutheran Church. He served one term on the church council and several years on the church cemetery board. Farming and ranching were LeRoy's life and hobby, he was always busy on the farm and never one to sit idle.   LeRoy and Elsie lived on the farm until 2000, then they moved into Gothenburg, in 2015 they moved to Grand Island.

Surviving are wife, Elsie Cyriacks of Grand Island, NE, two daughters, Darlene Boehnke of Omaha, Lisa (Curtis English) Cyriacks of Crestone, CO; sister-in-law, Ruth Cyriacks; two nephews, Dan (Audrey) Dyke, Bradley (Carol) Cyriacks; three nieces, Diane (Sisto) Rangel, Julie (Cal) Dooley, Debra (Mike) Olsen.

LeRoy was preceded in death his parents; two brothers, Donald Cyriacks, Charly Norman Cyriacks; sister, Rosella Dyke; son-in-law Walt Boehnke;  two nephews, Craig Cyriacks, Steven Cyriacks.

Memorial Services will be held at the American Lutheran Church, 1512 Ave G, Gothenburg, NE on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 10:00 am with Rev. Jon Mapa officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given in LeRoy's honor to the American Lutheran Church, 1512 Avenue G, Gothenburg, NE 69138, or the Gothenburg Senior Center, 410 20th Street Gothenburg, NE 69138.
