Kenneth O. Cumpston, 81, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died February 5, 2019 in Gothenburg, NE.
He was born April 2, 1937 on a farm north of Cozad, NE, son of Oscar and Tena (Duis) Cumpston. The family later moved to the farm near Farnam, NE. He went to school in North Platte for a couple of years. Kenny started working for McWha Industry when he was 14, following in his fathers footsteps, and Kenny worked for them for over 50 years. He was a hard and faithful worker. He loved to drive the tractor and his car. He liked old tube radios and often sang along with the old time country music and hymns. Music was an important part of his life; singing, playing the guitar, and the harmonica. He was always happy and loved to laugh. He especially loved being around little children. He loved the Lord and going to church was important to him; he attended the Nazarene Church or the services held at Hilltop. In his later years, Kenny made his home at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Roger and Gerald Cumpston, and sister Audrey Tabor.
Surviving are sister, Mary (David) McKim of Maxwell, NE, sister-in-law, Lulu Cumpston (Robert) Goddard of Pleasanton, NE; sister-in-law Janie Cumpston; along with numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, February 7, 2019, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, February 8, 2019 at 10:00 am with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating.
Interment will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Cozad, Nebraska.
