Kathryn Purintun

Kathryn Purintun, 87, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died October 9, 2018 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.

She was born August 30, 1931 in Wilsonville, NE, daughter of James and Edith Jones. When Kathryn was five, her family moved to Overton. On September 26, 1948 she married Charles Purintun in Overton and to this union Kathleen, Daniel, and James were born. The family made their home in Gothenburg in 1954.

Kathryn worked for many years in retail and later as a store owner and business woman along with Gayle Block. She loved working with the public because of her great love for people.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, where she volunteered and donated a lot of her time as a Sunday school teacher, United Methodist Women, the Tender Loving Care Group along with many leadership roles in the church. She enjoyed her flower gardens, cooking for family during the holidays, and going to as many of the grandchildren's and great grandchildren's events as she could.

Surviving are daughter, Kathleen (Keith) Vogt of Gothenburg, NE, son, James Purintun of Gothenburg, NE , sister-in-law, Catherine Adams of Lexington, NE, a niece that was raised as a sister, Sharon (Tom) Cooney, grandchildren, Kanda (Clayton) Kleinknecht, Kody Vogt, Karmen (Josh) Meyers, Erika (Adam) Dailey, Jessica Purintun, great-grandchildren, Kyle Kleinknecht, Karleigh Kleinknecht, Kaitlyn Kleinknecht, Kalib Jones, Kehl Jones, Emma Meyers, DJ Dailey, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Kathryn was preceded in death by husband, Charles "Cork" Purintun, her parents, son, Daniel Purintun,  in-laws Hugh and Emma Purintun, sisters Phylis (Horace) Stephenson, Winafred (Bud) Hahn, Marge Lamb, Jimmalee (Bob) McConnel, brothers-in-law, Vernon "Pat" (Marge) Purintun, Floyd "Mike" (Loraine) Purintun, and Bob Adams; sisters-in-law, LeLa Ann "Dot" (Phil) Huff and Eileen (Tom) Jones, a niece that was raised as a sister, Shirley (Max) Beyl.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Friday, October 12, 2018, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm with the family present from 4:00-6:00 pm..

Funeral Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, October 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jamie Norwich McLennan officiating.

Burial will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church.
