Karla Ricley

Karla Rae Plank Ricley died July 16, 2018 at Great Plains Health in North Platte after a courageous fight with cancer.

She was born December 12, 1961 in Gothenburg to Robert (Bob) and Marjorie (Marj) (Franzen) Plank. She grew up on the family farm five and a half miles north of Gothenburg along with her four sisters. As a family they worked hard but also had a lot of love and fun.

Karla graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1980 and graduated from Grand Island School of Business. She married Randy Ricley on August 30, 1986 at the family farm. She had a ready made family with Randy's kids, Casey and Logan. Karla was very proud of Casey and Logan and their families. She worked at NSG Transport for 14 years. Karla's faith was very important to her, she was a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Leader, and taught confirmation and Bible School for many years. She loved singing, dancing, and doing family things with Randy, the kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, and camping and helping others. She was always worrying about others. Karla loved Christmas. She loved to give and see the smiles on peoples faces.

Surviving are husband Randy Ricley of 32 years, daughter Casey (Josh) Handlin of Highlands Ranch, CO; son Logan (Stephanie) Ricley of Gothenburg; mother Marj Plank of North Platte, NE, sisters Kendra (Hal) Fecht, Kay (Craig) Streeter both of Gothenburg, NE, Kim (Jeff) Aurich of North Platte, NE, and Kelli (Stephen) Schwaller of Lincoln, NE, sister-in-law Jerri Elliott of Henderson, NV; grandkids Tristan and Zoe Handlin and Hayden and Brigham Ricley, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Karla was preceded in death by her father, Robert "Bob" Plank, and niece Bailey Streeter.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, July 22, 2018, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. with the family present from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 77191 Hwy 47, Gothenburg, NE, Monday, July 23, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor Carol Mapa officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.

In Lieu of Flowers, Donations may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church or the Callahan Cancer Center, 601 W Leota St, North Platte, NE 69101.
