Joyce Preitauer

February 12, 1949 — March 16, 2022

Joyce Preitauer, 73, of Lincoln, NE, unexpectedly went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 16, 2022. Joyce Lynette Preitauer was born, the fifth of six children to Stanley and Ilah (Koster) Preitauer, in her grandparent’s home on their family farm east of Gothenburg, NE on February 12, 1949.  The stories of her birth recounted it was a complicated one and she was turning blue until Doc Harvey stepped in and saved her life.

She attended School District #47 and later graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1967. She then attended the Personal Training Institute in Omaha, NE, before moving to Lincoln to begin her career.

Joyce chose not to marry, but to pour her life into her friends, nephews, nieces and their families. They were her family and meant more to her than anything. She crisscrossed the state to attend countless events and activities for her great nieces and nephews and even her great, great nieces and nephews. Aunt Joyce even hosted an annual Christmas Tea Party for her great nieces.

She loved to travel, near or far, including trips to Germany & Hawaii. Aunt Joyce enjoyed taking great nieces/nephews on shopping sprees, overnight and even out of state trips. Most recently, she picked up her newest great, great niece and her mom from the airport to help surprise their family for Christmas.

Throughout her life, Joyce was very active in church, asking Jesus Christ to be her Lord and Savior in 1970. She regularly helped with Pioneer Girls, AWANA Clubs, attended numerous Bible studies and supported missions.

She worked with Diversified Services/Custom Laminating for 45+ years and then was a part-time member of the Schworer Volkswagen team, until her death.

Joyce’s adventures often included her long time friend, Mary Ann Kramer, and more recently her friend, Marilyn Nunn.

Joyce was preceded in death by parents, Stanley and Ilah; sisters, Adelyn Hess, Myrna Sawle and JoAnn Mathews; and brother, William Preitauer.
She leaves behind brother, John Preitauer; numerous nephews and nieces, along with their families, they include: Glenn Hess, Marla Svehla, Lynn Sawle, Mike Sawle, Kelli Carson, Pete Sawle, Billy Preitauer, Mike Preitauer, Tina Preitauer, Deb Wilson, Dean Preitauer, Dawna Bryant, Dustin Preitauer, Devin Preitauer, Terry Preitauer, cousins,  as well as a host of family and friends.
