Jolene LaVaughn Harwick, 75, of Windsor, Colorado, formerly of Curtis, NE, died November 13, 2016 at Windsor Heathcare Center in Windsor.
She was born October 24, 1941 in Cheyenne, WY, daughter of Fay "Bud" and Ardis (Dempcy) Harwick.
Jolene spent her early years in Curtis. She was involved Girl Scouts and traveled to Winnipeg, Canada with that group. She graduated from Curtis High School and Chadron State College. She was in Jobs Daughters and a member of the Curtis Congregational Church. Jolene very much enjoyed the women’s fellowship group and loved baking cookies and cakes for their meetings. She took art classes in college including pottery, oil painting and sketching. Jolene always considered water color to be her specialty.
Jolene lived in Omaha for 25 years while working with the Nebraska Job Service as a job placement counselor. During her retirement years she was a bingo player and when she couldn’t play bingo she liked reading books, Bible study and nothing got in the way of Nebraska Football - “Go Big Red”. She loved her family and extended family and was always in the know as to their whereabouts and well being.
Surviving are brother, Jim (Zoe) Harwick of Greeley, CO, sister-in-law, Karen Harwick of Dickens, NE; nieces - Stacy Burgess of Huntington Beach, CA, Shelly (Rick) Kerchal of Dickens, NE Jamie (David) Kleinman of Evans, CO; nephews: Jeff (Heidi) Harwick of San Antonio, TX and Jay Harwick of Charlotte, NC.
Jolene was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Jack Harwick.
Graveside services will be held at Moorefield Cemetery, Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:00 am with Pastor Jean Miller officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Donor's Choice.
