Joan Dishman

Joan Dishman, 68, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died August 27, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.

Joan Fay (Brown) Dishman was born June 11, 1948 in Broken Bow, NE to Ralph Vernis and Ruby Irene (Cronk) Brown. She attended schools in Hendley, Lexington, country school south of Gothenburg, Brady and Gothenburg.

Joan married Delbert Dishman on August 23, 1963 at the United Methodist Church in Hershey, NE.  To this union two children were born: Corriene Jo and Delbert Todd.

In 1977 Joan received her GED.  She was a hard worker and drove truck for Delbert for her entire married life.  She worked other jobs as well including Kelly's Cafe, Kip's Drive Inn, Wheeler's and Daylight Donut.

She enjoyed bowling, camping and her pets.  The thing she enjoyed most though was her family especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Delbert Dishman of Gothenburg; daughter Corriene (Mick) Peterson of Gothenburg; son Delbert Todd Dishman of Sterling, CO; grandchildren Christopher (Ashley) Peterson, Pete Peterson, Jake Peterson, Terri Landis, Kara Murray, Taylor Dishman and Kirsta Dishman; sisters Patty Behrends and Beulah Miner and brother Merton Brown; great grandchildren: Bryce and Caden Peterson and Brody and Averi Landis.

Joan was preceded in death by her dad Ralph Brown, mom Ruby Decker, grandson Matthew Peterson,  brother Vance, grandson-in-law Regan Murray, three half brothers, a half sister and many aunts and uncles.

Memorial Services will be held at Farnam Church of the Nazarene, Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Cliff Transmeier officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE.
