Jerry Otterstad

Jerry Allen Otterstad, 75, of Willow Island, Nebraska, died August 1, 2017 in Bellevue, NE.

He was born August 27, 1941 in Joice, IA, son of Norris and Ida (Helegeson) Otterstad.  Jerry grew up in the Joice area and graduated from Joice High School.

Jerry married Diann Wirtjes on August 28, 1966 at Elk Creek Lutheran Church in rural Kensett, IA.  To this union three children were born Tammy, Travis and Tarah.  They farmed and fed cattle in Joice, IA until they purchased a feedlot near Cozad, NE in 1971.

Jerry enjoyed professional  basketball especially the Lakers and Magic Johnson and the Cavs and Lebron James.  He had a love for cattle, he enjoyed show cattle and visiting with the people in the show cattle business.  He loved raising and feeding cattle.

He is survived by his son Travis and wife Jill of Tuttle, OK; two daughters Tammy and husband Joe Martinez of Tampa, FL; and Tarah and husband Rene Takougnadi of Papillion; four Grandsons Zachary, Jared, and Justin Martinez of Tampa, FL and Didier Takougnadi of Papillion; one step granddaughter Tiffani Pruitt of Tuttle, OK;

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Diann Otterstad in 2015, and his parents Ida and Norris Otterstad.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE; Friday, August 4, 2017, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the family present.

Funeral Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Pastor James McCrickard officiating.

Burial will follow in the Cozad Cemetery, Cozad, NE.
