Harriet Block

Harriet M Block, 95, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died August 16, 2017 in Gothenburg, NE.

She was born November 24, 1921 in Callaway, NE, daughter of Arthur Charles and Elsie Roberta (Oberg) Tickle. Harriet accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a young child.  Her faith and strength carried her thru life and gave her an inner peace and happiness that was expressed in her cheerful smile.

Harriet married James O. Block on March 17, 1947 at Gothenburg.  She was a busy wife and mother, helping her husband with his beekeeping business and grain elevators.  She spent many years working as a secretary for several businesses.  She was member of the Red Hats and enjoyed helping out the Senior Center with their Bingo fundraising games.

The Block family thanks you for your years of friendship and your expressions of love and sympathy.

Surviving include daughter, Charlotte (Lyle) Sitorius of Brady, NE, daughter, Cynthia Cary of Kailua-Kona, HI, son, Jim (Peggy) Block of Lexington, NE,7 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 13 great great grand children along with nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings Dale and Luella.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Friday, August 18, 2017, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 6-8.

Funeral Services will be held at Evangelical Free Church 1721 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, NE,  Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:00 am with Pastor Scott Newman officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Memorials may be made to the Senior Center or the donors choice.
