Geraldine Magee

Geraldine Evelyn (Lenz) Magee, 88, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother of Curtis, NE, died May 26, 2023, at her home.   

Gerry was born in Curtis, NE on April 16, 1935 to Albert and Grace Lenz.  She was one of seven children and grew up on a farm outside of Curtis, NE.  She graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture.  After high school she met the love of her life, Leland Magee, and they were married on March 22nd, 1953 in Las Vegas. During this union they had five children: Micheal, Robert Scott, Valeria, Janet, and Kristie.  

During her lifetime she enjoyed  living on a farm in the Curtis area, being a homemaker, bus driver, as well as managing the Curtis Sale Barn Cafe.  She had many joys in her life: family, gardening, sewing, diamond painting, cooking, and going on special trips. She also got special recognition as Rural Homemaker of the Month in 1973 and Curtis Citizen of the Year in 2015.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leland, son Robert Scott, brother Vernie Lenz, sister Beverly Caywood, and grandson, Joshua Magee. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Mike (Nancy) Magee, of Clarion, Iowa,  Valeria (Jim) Hicks of Curtis, NE, Janet (Nick) Wells of Dodge City,Kansas, and Kristie (Timothy) Cocrane, of Park City, Utah. Grandchildren: Matthew Magee, Siddhika Magee. Bo (Andrea) Hicks, Jessica (Justin) Nasello, Haley (Derek Broderick) Magee, Elliot Garrison, Kyle Campbell, Dirk Campbell, Trever (Bryn) Wells, Cassie Wells, Kevin (Destanie) Cocrane, Travis (Kirsten) Cocrane, Reese Cocrane.  Great Grandchildren: Stella, Will, Elin, Avery, Bryson, Charlie, Piper, Mogen, Rowdy, Bentley, Cohen, Cora Rose, Boone, Mila, Callie, Peyton. And her siblings, Betty Schmelzer, Richard (Glenda) Lenz., Larry Lenz, Connie (Dennis) Poole.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, Nebraska; Sunday, June 4, 2023, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.

Services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Monday, June 5, 2023 at 10:30 am with Pastor James Peterson officiating.  

Interment will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Curtis Senior Center or St. John's Lutheran Church.
