George Finnell

December 15, 1938 — February 13, 2017

George W. Finnell, 78, of Brady, Nebraska, died February 13, 2017 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, NE.

He was born December 15, 1938 in Indianola, NE, son of George Wesley and Inez (Hall) Finnell.  George grew up in the Northport and Bridgeport area.  He graduated from high school in 1957 and joined the US Navy where he served for four years.

George married Marlene Colerick on March 1, 1964 at Bridgeport; to this union three children were born - Todd, Troy, and Amy.  He spent many years as a USDA meat inspector and processed deer.  George was active in his community - helping his neighbors and lending a hand where needed.  He especially enjoyed family time.  He was a Red Cross blood donor, a member of the Masons and Shriners.  George was an active member of the Brady UMC and served on the church board as a trustee.  He supported the kids in his community by being a bus driver and attending ball games.

Surviving are wife, Marlene Finnell of Brady, NE, two sons, Troy (Marci) Finnell of Wright, WY, Todd (Denise) Finnell of Brady, NE; daughter, Amy Finnell of Farnam, NE; 10 grandchildren - Rich, Cassie, Shawn, Les, Steph, Kendra, Colt, Wylee, Cole, Ian;  and two great grandchildren, faithful companion Maggie; many friends and extended family.

George was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, two sisters Margaret and Frances and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at Brady Public School, Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 10:00 am with Pastors Neil Kloppenborg and Janie Freeman officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
