Gary Jorgensen

July 22, 1942 — May 27, 2023

Gary Jorgensen, 80, of Curtis, Nebraska, died May 27, 2023 at his home in Curtis.

Gary was a loving father to three daughters and three step-children, eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many grand-dogs. He grew up in Curtis, Nebraska on the family farm with his parents and siblings.

For many years, Gary managed Wheelers stores, which led to him traveling and living in several states. After retiring from Wheelers, he and his wife opened the local Martha Jo’s Cafe in Curtis, where he kept the town fed and let his grandkids play countless games of Pac-Man. He was an active member of his church and community, and loved Huskers football, gardening, and watching birds in the feeder by his window. He was a talented woodworker, and you can find his detailed artwork in the homes of many of his family and friends.

Gary is survived by his daughters, Helen Debus (Greg), Shelly Pierce (Harvey), and Sonia Black (Richard), his sister Helen Reed, brother Al Jorgensen (Jean), grandkids Kira Debus, Sara Haake (Phil), Alyssa Debus, Kayla Wills, Justin McCorkle (Katrina), Chelsey Whyrick, Josh Whyrick (Samantha), Aaron Pierce, and great-grandkids Brailyn, Teegan, Bentley, Leigha, Grayson, Jayce, Joslynn, Jayden, CaLee, NataLee, LiLee, Evelyn, MarLee, Brock, Knox Gary Lee, Gabriella, and Eloise, along with a nephew, three nieces, and numerous cousins.

Gary will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but left a lasting legacy that will live on for generations to come.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the park in Curtis.
