Gail Wesch

Gail Wesch, 94, of North Platte, NE, formerly of Maywood, died March 28, 2015 at Linden Court in North Platte.

She was born January 10, 1921 in Frontier County, NE, daughter of Frank and Ethel (Barrett) Owen.

Gail graduated high school from Ingham High School and attended college at York College and Kearney State College. Gail married Fred Wesch on June 24, 1942 in North Platte, NE. Gail and Fred lived on a farm in Red Willow County, later they moved to a farm near Wellfleet where they farmed and raised three daughters; Burdella, Betty, and Barbara. Gail worked as a teacher for many years and taught at Wellfleet, Maywood, and rural schools. In 1968 Fred and Gail built a new house in Maywood where she lived until she moved to North Platte in 2013. Following Fred's death in 1973 Gail worked as the office manager for the Frontier County Farm Bureau.

She was a member of the Parliamentarian Club, Local and Regional United Methodist Women, Willing Workers Club, Area Agency on Aging Board Member, Local, State, and National officer of the Federated Garden Club, Park Avenue Investment Club, Flower show judge, and a 4-H club Leader. Gail enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and arranging flowers.

Surviving are daughters, Burdella Bacon and husband Ken of Broken Arrow, OK, Betty Tidyman and husband Glenn of Sutherland, NE, Barbara Fritsche and husband Randy of Maywood, NE; grandsons, Phillip Hildebrand of Broken Arrow, OK, Mike Tidyman and wife Sara of North Platte, NE, Matt Fritsche and wife Colleen of LaVista, NE; granddaughters, Nancy Johnson and husband Bob of Falcon, CO, Julie Rutan and husband Guy of North Platte, NE, Leann McGrane of Omaha, NE; great-grandchildren Kelsey and Madeline Hildebrand;  Quince, Ryan, Reagan Johnson; Amber and Shontelle Tidyman;  Owen and Wyatt Heessel, Kellen and Kinley Fritsche, and Delaney McGrane; and sisters, Lois Kjar of Buffalo, MO, and Lila Maline of North Platte, NE.

Gail was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Ruth Nichelson, and Janet Kelly, and a brother, John Clinton Owen.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, Nebraska; Thursday, April 2, 2015, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5-7 pm.

Services will be held at Maywood Methodist Church, Friday, April 3, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Tammy Aubushon officiating.

Interment will follow in the Maywood Cemetery, Maywood, Nebraska.
